The successful GU-17 Whidbey Islanders select team included girls from all three Island high schools.
North, South or Central, soccer unites all of Whidbey.
Or, at least it will during the two-month Girls U15-U18 All-Island Intramural League, which will allow players from all three Island zones to honor the words of The Beatles and “come together.”
The league, which costs $25, will offer players a chance to improve and maintain their soccer skills during the down time between select soccer seasons.
The action will alternate every Saturday between Fort Nugent and the South Whidbey Sports Complex from April 6 to June 1. Players will do a warm-up, possibly a drill or two then choose up sides and play “pick-up” style, with no uniforms or referees.
There are no weekday practices, but all players must be registered. For more info or to register go to https://swysc.com/groups/06-rec-spring-2013-girls-u15-u18-all-island-intramural-league/.
