Austin Fields went out with a bang.
Firing an 87 over 18 holes at Snohomish Golf and Country Club Monday, the Coupeville High School senior finished 10th in a field of 33 at the Cascade Conference Medalist Tournament.
The final league event of his stellar career, it was a prelude to the postseason, which kicks off Thursday. Fields and sophomore sister Christine, who shot a 90 in the girls’ competition, now head to districts.
Then, if past results are any indication, the pair will wade through tri-districts May 13-14 and on to state May 21-22. Christine placed 8th at the 1A state meet as a freshman, while Austin has had back-to-back top 40 finishes the past two seasons.
Archbishop Murphy, paced by medalist Sean Goldfinch, won the boys’ team competition Monday. Girls’ team results were not available.
