Has there ever been a moment in her entire life when Elena Jimenez Guerra (right) wasn’t the bubbliest one in the room? (Amy King photos)

All-Conference players (l to r) Bessie Walstad, Hailey Hammer, Madeline Strasburg, Madeline Roberts and McKayla Bailey.
Underclassmen carried the day.
Five Coupeville High School softball players earned All-Conference honors, with three of the five being sophomores.
Hailey Hammer, who played first and third base while delivering big hits at the plate, was named a First-Team pick by Cascade Conference coaches, while fellow tenth-grader Madeline Strasburg, an outfielder, was tabbed for the Second Team.
Sophomore pitcher/outfielder McKayla Bailey, junior infielder/outfielder Madeline Roberts and senior catcher/first baseman Bessie Walstad all received Honorable Mention.
Team awards and varsity letters were handed out Tuesday night at a season-ending banquet (there were rumors of cheesecake), with Walstad, Roberts and senior hurler Maria Rockwell honored as Captains.
Foreign exchange student Elena Jimenez Guerra, who NEVER stopped chattering on the bench (“You got this Madi! You got this babe!!”) was selected Most Enthusiastic, Strasburg was tapped as Most Improved and junior Breeanna Messner won the Coaches Award.
Taking home letters were Sydney Aparicio, Bailey, Julia Felici, Hammer, Messner, Chevy Reyes, Roberts, Rockwell, Haley Sherman, Strasburg and Walstad.
Jimenez Guerra and sophomore Monica Vidoni earned participation certificates.
