The best softball team in all the land is headed on an epic road trip.
Having gone undefeated through districts, taking advantage of the 10-run rule in crushing its opponents every step of the way, the Sizzlin’ Sisters are Asotin-bound.
The 9/10 all-star softball squad, which is comprised of players from Central and South Whidbey, romped to a 16-6 win over South Skagit in the district championship game Tuesday, punching its ticket to the state tourney.
That begins July 12 and will require the Sisters to travel six-and-a-half hours (if traffic is light) to the very edge of the state, as Asotin sits on the Idaho border.
Playing against South Skagit, the Sisters combined big-game pitching from Chelsea Prescott with timely hitting to run away with the victory.
Shianna Baker knocked in Thora Iverson with the final run to end the game early.
The all-star squad is coached by the trio of Mimi Johnson, Lark Gustafson and Katy Wells.
