At least that’s the expectation, as what should be a fired-up Coupeville High School volleyball squad is scheduled to come pouring off the ferry that afternoon. Sitting at 0-3 after another closer-than-it-sounds league loss Thursday night, the Wolves are going to want to beat up on someone. Any one.
Hence, pity Port Townsend, for they know not what horrors await them.
If a bit of a sting from a 25-19, 25-12, 25-17 home loss to Island rival South Whidbey lingers with them, it should be fuel to the fire.
Toss in continued top play from heavy hitters like Hailey Hammer (five kills vs. the Falcons) and Madeline Strasburg (four kills), hustle from Amanda Fabrizi (10 digs), sharp serving from Sydney Aparicio (the Ace Queen), add smooth leadership from Megan Oakes (eight assists, three aces), mix with more consistent team play by what is a very young, still-developing Wolf squad, and the boom is likely coming down.
Someone alert the Port Townsend authorities, because it’s going to resemble a crime scene.
