This is sort of how it went Tuesday, if you substitute the Wolf volleyball squad for the bunny and Sultan for the man being backhanded.

Wins are like potato chips. You can’t have just one.

With their taste buds set on fire by their demolition of Port Townsend Saturday, the Coupeville High School spikers hit the court in Sultan Tuesday with an insatiable appetite for destruction. Innocently wandering by with little clue of the destruction ‘n mayhem headed their way — the hapless and winless Turks, who made the mistake of even opening their gym to the invaders from Whidbey.

The resulting 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20 crushing of their hosts was not as scary as it could have been. But it was coldly efficient, proof that the Wolf volleyballers are getting into a groove as they head into a stretch where they will play four of their next five matches at home.

That run starts with a meeting with big, bad, ready-to-be-dismantled Archbishop Thomas Murphy this Thursday, Sept. 20. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

Now 2-3 overall, 1-3 in Cascade Conference action after the demolition of Sultan, Coupeville got strong performances from every section of its roster Tuesday.

The wham-bam sisterhood of big hitters Hailey Hammer (11 kills) and Bessie Walstad (8 kills) kept the Turks on their heels, while Megan Oakes kept the big hits possible, dealing out a match-high 25 assists from her setter position. On defense, it was Walstad (22 digs) and Amanda Fabrizi (19 digs) scraping their knees and pacing the never-say-die brigade.
