Is this any way to encourage repeat visits? You invite someone to your place and then run them right back out of the gym? Not cool, South Whidbey. Not cool at all.
The Coupeville High School volleyball squad did make a bid to stay longer, pushing the action in the third set to the breaking point Tuesday night. In the end, however, it wasn’t enough, as the Wolves fell 25-15, 25-17, 26-24 to the host Falcons, absorbing their sixth straight loss.
Now 2-9 overall, 1-9 in Cascade Conference play, Coupeville has a good shot at getting off the snide with their next match. They host Sultan — a team they drilled earlier this season — Thursday, Oct. 11 in a game that will be awash in pink, as the two teams honor breast cancer awareness. Tip-off is 7 PM, with JV action kicking off at 5:30.
The Wolves put up a nice fight against their Island arch-rivals, with Bessie Walstad going low for 13 digs, Hailey Hammer unleashing eight kills and setter Megan Oakes doling out 11 assists.
South Whidbey was led by Hannah Calderwood (11 kills), Anne Madsen (nine kills) and Chantel Brown (17 digs).
