Kacie Kiel (right) gets to join Katie Kiel (left) and Breeanna Messner at the district volleyball tournament Saturday.
In professional baseball they call them the September call-ups — that time when you expand the roster and bring up a promising player or two to the big leagues to see what they can do in late-season action.
Well, it’s late October, but the same concept fits in the promotion Tuesday of sophomore outside hitter Kacie Kiel from the Coupeville High School JV volleyball squad to the varsity. With the addition, Wolf coach Toni Crebbin will have a full dozen on her bench as CHS heads into district play this Saturday.
Kiel, who has shown bursts of power, will get to spend quality time with big sister Katie, one of three seniors on the Wolf squad.
Should both get into a match at the same time, it’s possible their dad, Steve, the undisputed king of the lung-busting “Let’s go CHS!” exhortations, may pass out from hyperventilating.
