Coupeville Sports

Ladies and gents, let’s get ready to rumble!

The Coupeville High School basketball schedules are hot off of Kim Andrews’ printing press and two things jump out at even the most casual of observers.

First, the Wolves better learn to love the road (but more about that in a moment).

Second, the night of Thursday, Dec. 6, the third game of the 2012-2013 season, should be an interesting one. That night Coupeville travels to La Conner for a doubleheader and things may get, ahem, rough and ready, as the Wolves go toe-to-toe with a former teammate who fled town to play for a “better team.”

Without naming names, let’s just say go ask a Wolf basketball player or a parent. Much has has been said, and little of it is a love fest.

As they were fond of saying back in the olden days (before my time) … very interesting.

Now back to the road, because that’s where the Coupeville girls will be for the first five games of the season and seven of the first eight games. They tip off Nov. 29, and have only one home game between then and Dec. 22.

Things get better (eventually) but the Wolves still play 12 of their 20 games on the road this season.

The boys’ squad plays 11 of its 20 games on the road, including a staggering six straight at one point during Jan. They do get a four-game home stand, however, while the longest home stand for the Wolf girls is two games.

The wheels on the bus go round and round…
