The Coupeville High School boys’ tennis coach was seen being worshiped in photos shot at his team’s banquet. Players rubbed his shaved head and bestowed blessings on it.
Tuesday night, there was no worshiping of magical bald domes, but there was plenty of emotion, as Wolf volleyball coach Toni Crebbin capped a 20-year coaching career at CHS with her final awards banquet.
“I did shed a few tears,” she admitted. “No bald head, but I did go all out and wear a dress!”
Her squad divvied up the awards, with five varsity girls sharing in the limelight.
Senior Bessie Walstad, who won Best Defense, and sophomore Hailey Hammer, who took home Best Offense, were both also named Second-Team All-Cascade Conference selections in voting by league coaches. Crebbin hailed the picks as “awards well deserved.”
Junior Allie Hanigan won Most Improved, senior Katie Kiel nabbed Most Inspirational and junior Breeanna Messner pocketed the Wolf award.
Earning letters were junior Sydney Aparicio, senior Lauren Escalle, junior Amanda Fabrizi, Hammer, Hanigan, Kiel, Messner, junior Megan Oakes, junior Haley Sherman, sophomore Madeline Strasburg and Walstad.
Letters of participation went to freshmen Sydney Autio, McKenzie Bailey, Miranda Engle, Julia Jones and Samantha Martin, sophomores Kacie Kiel, Ashlyn Miller, Camille Rische and Monica Vidoni, juniors Emilee Crichton and Kenzie Kooch and seniors Rhiannon Ellsworth and Iris Ryckaert.
