“Free ice cream!!” (Shelli Trumbull photo)
It all starts today.
Year two of the Anthony Smith Show kicks off this afternoon, as the Coupeville High School boys’ basketball team welcomes Blaine to town for the first Wolf home game of the year. JV action tips off at 1 PM, followed by the varsity somewhere in the vicinity of 3.
The Coupeville girls are in Bellingham today to play Meridian for game two of the Wolves’ five-game season-opening road trip.
The Wolf boys will be hosting a Borderite team that could be quite tired. Blaine lost 73-44 in Sedro-Woolley last night, then turned right around to take the bus down from the Canadian border this morning.
In their opening loss, the Borderites were paced by Ivan Sanchez, who banged in the paint for 16 points. Blaine got into foul trouble early and Sedro-Woolley out-shot the visitors 15-2 at the charity stripe.
It could be a great day for CHS fans. Free ice cream as Kapaw’s closes its doors for the season, followed by Gavin O’Keefe raining sweet-tasting jumpers on Luke Ridnour’s alma mater.
Make it so.
