Swept away by the tunes, Carson Risner (44) finds his happy place and ignores the fact 6-foot-5 beast Mason Friedline might fall on him at any moment.
Band moms of the world, rejoice, for today is your day.
We’re taking a momentary break from the basketball players and the cheerleaders to pay tribute to the 32 dedicated members of the Coupeville High School pep band, who limber up their lips and flex their fingers and then deliver tunes for our enjoyment at home basketball games.
So here you go moms.
And if I missed any names, I blame it on whomever typed up the basketball program Friday night. Or, the fact I’m typing this at 12:52 AM…

Hey David! Thanks for putting those dedicated Pep Band Band members out there for everyone to see! So proud of their hard work! They played at every football and basketball game. And did I mention to you that all the beginning and advanced HS band members were dumped, that is to say combined, into one band class this year? Some of these students have played an instrument for 5+ years and now are being forced to play with the beginners. Sort of like putting JV and Varsity out on the same court. I am proud of those band students, and truly amazed that they haven’t all dropped the class.
