Two nights. Two games. Two chances to lay claim to Island supremacy.
The Coupeville High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will take the short trip to Langley the next two nights (girls tip-off 7 PM Wednesday, boys 7 PM Thursday) to face their arch-rivals, the Falcons of South Whidbey in loser-out district playoff games.
The first match-up is a rubber game between squads that split regular season contests. Both schools won on their home floor, and, if you have been living under a rock and not reading the comment section on this blog, South Whidbey will be without Hayley Newman, the #3 scorer in the Cascade Conference.
The second game will feature the expected return of junior Aaron Trumbull. After missing three games with a nasty concussion, Trumbull has been cleared to rejoin the Wolves, though the final decision will be based on how he responds in practice.
As the hours count down and anticipation ramps up, we offer you a medley of John Fisken photos, perfect for framing.
