
Baseball in March and the Nooksack Valley fans behind Bayne look less than thrilled with the weather.

If you haven’t heard, it was a tad cold. And wet. And just brutally miserable.
By the time Coupeville had staged a stunning comeback and charged back from six runs down to shock Nooksack Valley 9-8 in 10 innings Saturday in its home baseball opener, there were about as many fans left as there were players on the Wolf bench.
But, intrepid photographer Shelli Trumbull was there to document the happenings for us, even if she did disappear late in the game to “move her truck” and was never seen again…
And so, while she was huddled over the fire she had probably started in the front seat of her truck, we thank her. Now we need to go see what can be done about hypothermia and frostbite.
