“This crowd has gone deadly silent, a Cinderella story outta nowhere. Former greenskeeper and now about to become the Masters champion…”
The only way you beat Austin Fields this season — ship him out of town.
Back on the Island by popular demand after a trip to see Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods and the creme de la creme of the golf world, the Coupeville High School senior picked up right where he left off.
Atop the leader board.
Playing his third match of the season, Fields fired a 79 Thursday at the Cedarcrest Golf and Country Club to earn medalist honors for the third consecutive time.
He edged Lakewood’s Christian Case by a stroke, while finishing a solid 10 shots ahead of the best from his traveling companions from South Whidbey. The Falcons trounced the host Cougars 470-529 in the team standings.
Fields? He doesn’t need a team. He’s a one-man wrecking crew.
