“My name is Luke Pelant, commander of the armies of the Wolf, general of the Coupeville legions, loyal servant to the one true emperor, Senor Mendes. And I will have my victory, in this town or the next!!” (John Fisken photo).

“Luke, I’m really happy for you and I’ma let you finish, but no one wants to go to Sultan. No one.” (Shelli Trumbull photos)
The schedule makers have once again given local fans a conundrum.
Home baseball and softball games will kick off at 4 PM today on opposite sides of the street, forcing Wolf faithful to choose which to support.
Do you go with hardball, which is gearing up for the sweep of Island arch-rival South Whidbey?
The Wolves have won four straight and nothing would be finer than to say you had taken all three from your closest competitors (who also happen to be the only other 1A school of the seven Cascade Conference schools to play baseball).
But you could also go with softball, which is looking to get back to its winning ways against Sultan.
After back-to-back wins to open the season, the last two games have seen the offense sputter a bit. Back in front of their home fans, the hope is McKayla Bailey, Hailey Hammer and Co. will unleash their high-powered scoring machine again.
Or, if you’re really brave, you could travel down Sultan way to see the Wolf boys’ soccer team play (JV at 5, varsity at 7).
But, who really wants to go to Sultan if they can avoid it?
