Right down the fairway.
That’s where Coupeville High School sophomore Christine Fields is putting the ball most times, as she fine-tunes her game and prepares for another run at the state tournament.
Playing as a one-woman Wolf squad, she held her own with her traveling and training partners from South Whidbey the past two days, putting up strong rounds in back-to-back matches.
Using modified Stableford scoring, Fields carded a 37 over nine holes Wednesday at Cedarcrest Golf and Country Club, then followed that up with a 41 over 17 holes at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club Thursday.
South Whidbey bopped Lakewood 215-102 Wednesday and edged King’s 204-174 Thursday.
Without any teammates to back her up, Fields can’t compete in the team battle, but she finished fourth in the individual showdown Thursday.
