Two girls in their final go-around and two girls in their first go-round will form Coupeville High School’s doubles teams for the district tournament.
Seniors Holly Craggs and Emily Gallahar won a team-wide tournament to net the #1 spot, while freshmen Sydney Autio and Samantha Martin clawed their way past several strong teams to grab the #2 spot.
The duos will join singles players Amanda d’Almeida and Iris Ryckaert and travel to Langley Thursday.
All six Wolves will have their work cut out for them with a much-deeper tourney field than in previous years.
South Whidbey, which had been a dominant force in the 2A tennis world, dropped down to 1A this season, and the Falcons and fellow newcomer Blaine are the overwhelming favorites, with Coupeville, Friday Harbor and a handful of others hoping for an upset or two.
