Breeanna Messner is one of nine returning seniors.

At the opposite end are a promising group of freshmen, including Valen Trujillo.

If the numbers hold, new Coupeville High School volleyball coach Kirsty Croghan will have a deep roster.

Croghan, a former Wolf star who is following in the footsteps of the recently-retired Toni Crebbin, has had 27 girls turn out for spring practices.

Of those, a third are seniors, with virtually the entire varsity roster from 2012 due back on the court. Coupeville lost just three players off its 11-woman varsity roster (Bessie Walstad, Lauren Escalle and Katie Kiel) to graduation.

While a lot can change between now and late August, when the turnout for a new season officially begins, those are very solid numbers.
