“If you surround yourself with good, kind-hearted people, you will turn out to be a good, kind-hearted person. Well, at least I hope so.”
Listening to her words and to the words of others who know her, Ciera St Onge seems well on her way to making that statement ring true.
The Coupeville High School junior, who is entering her second year as a Wolf cheerleader, is popular with her teammates and coaches, and the feeling is mutual.
“I enjoy everything (about cheer),” St Onge said. “The other cheerleaders and the coaches — they’re all wonderful.
“In a way we are like a family and we respect one another,” she added. “We practice hard so we can be the best we can be and enjoy what we do.”
St Onge, who also participates in her school’s ASB, is a big fan of the musical comedy “Pitch Perfect,” and has a younger sister, Kameryn, who was a budding basketball star for Coupeville Middle School last year.
And while she embraces her many friends (“I love to hang out with my friends”), it’s family that Ciera holds closest, as she tries to stay true to the happy lessons they have taught her.
“I believe that my friends and family have had the most impact on my life,” St Onge said.
