It’s two-for-one, for free.
Reversing an earlier decision, the Coupeville High School girls’ soccer team will get to play its season finale at home Monday, and not have to make a second trip to Granite Falls in five days.
The Wolves and Tigers will play at 6:30 PM, if the game ahead of them is finished by then.
Why? Because, there’s already a home JV football game on the schedule for that day, with Coupeville hosting King’s at 4.
Now, with a (possibly brief) break between them, there will be back-to-back games.
So, it’ll be a long day for all involved, but it solves the problem of CHS losing a home game and the resulting money from the snack shack run by the parents of the Class of 2014.
Coupeville and Granite Falls were supposed to play on the Island Oct. 1, but a schedule flip-flop moved the game to Oct. 10.
When that rolled around, the Tigers showed up in town, but the refs didn’t. With the home team being responsible for the officials, CHS originally faced the prospect of sacrificing a home game when the makeup game was set.
With the change, Monday, and not the Saturday morning game against King’s, will become Senior Night for the Wolves. Joye Jackson and Tori Wellman will be honored before the game starts.
Once the football players get their sweaty butts off the field, that is.
