The awards keep rolling in for The Big Hurt.
A day after being named to the Everett Herald’s All-Area football team for his play on the offensive line, Coupeville High School senior Nick Streubel doubled his pleasure when the defense was honored.
He was one of two Cascade Conference players selected to the First Team, joining Sultan senior middle linebacker Taylor Comfort.
Streubel, who was routinely triple-teamed at nose guard, led 1A players with 10 sacks and collected 76 tackles in eight games this season.
Paced by its two-way leader, Coupeville went 4-5 (4-4 with Streubel in the lineup), its most wins in four seasons.
Mac McLachlan, a senior linebacker from 4A Edmonds-Woodway, was picked as the defensive player of the year.
