Screw All-Conference. How about All-State?
With Coupeville High School players not being eligible for consideration when Cascade Conference coaches handed out awards (due to a limited league schedule), senior Wolf lineman Nick Streubel was overlooked at that level.
Every other level has recognized the impact of “The Big Hurt,” however, from the Everett Herald, when they handed out their All-Area team awards to the biggest of the biggies, announced Thursday.
Streubel was selected as a 1A Second-Team All-State offensive lineman by the Associated Press.
He was one of two 1A players from the 1A/2A Cascade Conference to be picked, with King’s offensive lineman Zach Jacobson also a Second-Team selection.
Taylor Comfort was the only 2A Cascade Conference player picked, as the Sultan linebacker was tabbed to the Second-Team.
