Grey Rische and the Wolf JV boys’ hoops squad will look to bounce back against Friday Harbor after falling at South Whidbey Tuesday.
It’s a 2-for-1 special for the second straight day.
Coming off a doubleheader at South Whidbey Tuesday (girls won, boys lost), the Coupeville High School basketball squads get right back at it Wednesday with a home twin-bill.
Friday Harbor is the foe, and they’ll be in town a little earlier than normal, with tip-offs set for 4 and 5:30 PM. It’s the final non-conference game of the season for the Wolf girls (7-8) and boys (3-13).
Both Coupeville squads have beaten last year’s win totals (girls 6, boys 1) and are looking to ignite a hot streak down the stretch.
The Wolf girls are in solid position to earn a 1A playoff berth, holding a three-game lead over South Whidbey with four Cascade Conference games to play.
They’ll finish with home games against Sultan (Fri., Jan. 31) and Granite Falls (senior night on Fri., Feb. 7), packaged around trips to Archbishop Thomas Murphy (Tue., Feb. 4) and King’s (Sat., Feb. 8).
District playoffs would kick-off Feb. 11.
The Coupeville boys have improved, but will need a big boost, and some luck, to snag their own playoff berth.
They trail South Whidbey by two-and-a-half games (they have three league games to play, while the Falcons have four.)
After Friday Harbor, the boys’ squad travels to Sultan (Jan. 31), comes home for senior night against ATM (Feb. 4) and closes out the regular season at Granite Falls Thursday, Feb. 6.
