Even Christine Fields slightly off days on the golf course are pretty good.
The Coupeville High School junior described her performance Tuesday at Cedarcrest Golf Club in Lakewood as “a bad day,” yet she carded the third best score out of the 11 varsity golfers competing.
Her score of 23 points over nine holes, using modified Stableford scoring, put her hot on the heels of Lakewood’s Hailey Duitsman (24) and not that far off medalist Rosie Portillo (26) of South Whidbey.
The Falcons, who Fields trains and travels with, beat their hosts 88-77 in the team scoring race. With only the Lone Wolf, Coupeville has no shot in the team battle.
