“Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former ball boy, now, about to hit a homer. It looks like a mirac… It’s over the fence! It’s over the fence! It’s over the fence!”
Now, the whole point of being a ninja is, no one sees you.
I sort of think the Central Whidbey “Black Ninjas” baseball squad is missing the point of their name, since their images were easily captured on film by travelin’ photo man John Fisken.
But we’ll let it go, for now, at least.
The game in question was a Majors contest between the Black Ninjas, who were protecting the honor of Central Whidbey, and their opponents, the presumably dastardly North Whidbey Mariners.
Brief sponsor plug — the Ninjas wear the name of Iverson Insurance across their chests, and since the brother/sister combo of Matt Iverson and Mimi Johnson that owns said insurance agency also advertises on Coupeville Sports, I thought I’d make a big deal about it.
Shameless, I know…
Anyway, if you like the pics above and want to see more (and possibly purchase some for hanging on the wall or sending to grandma), head over to the link below.
And remember, a percentage of sales always goes to fund college scholarships for Coupeville High School athletes. Which these ninjas may one day be.
Circle of life and all.
