When will they learn you can’t beat Izzy LeVine? (Sean LeVine photos)

There be fools in Arizona.

Young women keep stepping to Coupeville alumni Izzy LeVine on the wrestling mat, and they keep ending up in the same place.

Face down, being pinned by the former Terror of Cow Town.

Izzy, younger sister of Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Famers Micky and Jae LeVine, now lives in a hotter climate, which matches her run as a grappler.

She’s now 39-2 on the season after sweeping four matches by pin at the She Devil Classic in Page, Arizona Saturday, claiming yet another tourney title.

Powered by LeVine, Casteel High School claimed a team title as well.

“I like the view from up here.”

The teen titan who spent her younger years collecting rocks for me at her older sister’s games has one dual meet left on the regular season schedule.

After that, postseason action begins, with a goal of making it to state.

Once high school grapplin’ wraps up, Sean and Joline’s youngest wild child heads out to begin her freestyle wrestling season.

Don’t get between Izzy LeVine and a championship medal.

The former Coupeville supernova is now the queen of the wrestling mats, terrorizing grapplers in a new city seemingly every day.

This weekend, Micky and Jae’s (not so) lil’ sister was at the 50th Annual Jerry Benson Tournament in Buckeye, Arizona, and all anyone could hear was the scream of wrestlers trying (and failing) to escape her grasp.

Izzy made a clean sweep of things, winning all seven of her matches, six by pins, to claim a tourney title.

Paced by her performance, Casteel High School’s girls’ wrestling squad finished fourth in the team standings.

While the LeVine family no longer lives in Cow Town, they left behind a towering legacy, with three family members having earned induction into the Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Fame.

Another day of grappling, another oversized medal to add to the ever-growing collection.

Former Whidbey wonder Izzy LeVine, youngest member of a family which has landed three inductees into the Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Fame, continues to terrorize the wrestling mat.

Continuing a torrid run of pins and technical falls, “The Izzinator” claimed third-place Saturday at the MWP Grand Canyon Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Competing in the 132-pound division, LeVine fought her way back after being narrowly nipped in the championship rounds.

Sweet revenge was hers in the final bout, as she won by major decision over the same foe who had beaten her earlier in the tourney.

“Long, but fun day!” said dad Sean.

LeVine, whose older sisters Micky and Jae are joined by pops in the Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Fame, has had a busy, super-successful summer.

Her last time out, in mid-July, she finished in the top half of competitors at the 16U Junior National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.

Izzy followed that up by earning 3rd place at the USMC/USA 16U Junior Nationals Beach Bash the same weekend.

She was a first ballot Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Famer, a bright, shining supernova whose awesomeness couldn’t be contained by a single nickname.

So, at various points, Jae LeVine, one of the bravest athletes I have written about, and the only one whose Senior Night made me cry — after I left the field — has been known by many monikers.

JaeBird.

Flash.

Joltin’ Jae.

Lil’ Miss Awesome.

A softball star who blasted game-winning hits off the best pitcher in the league, then danced on second base — like full-on, body-poppin’, boogy-time moves — she has never allowed her ongoing serious heart issues to slow her down.

Jae played basketball until doctors took the game away, pumping her fists while backpedaling after draining three-balls.

She played volleyball, sprinting in and out of the gym and hitting dad Sean in the face with her discarded second uniform, until the same medical folk said no more.

Put drumsticks in her hands, and Jae brought the gym alive, her impish grin telling the true tale as she went off on her own riff, music teachers be danged.

Flash has survived intense surgeries, shared her story to provide comfort and hope for others, has established her own career in the medical world — like mom and pop before her — and now, as of Wednesday, gotten hitched.

As Jae and Heidi (Littrell) LeVine head off to start their wedded life, Coupeville Sports joins all of those wishing the couple all the best.

I told myself I wouldn’t cry … but we know how that worked out last time.

Casteel High School rules the wrestling world.

The youngest is making her mark.

Former Whidbey Island resident Izzy LeVine, sister of Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Famers Micky and Jae, rules the wrestling mats in Arizona these days.

Now a freshman at Casteel High School in Chandler Heights, the young woman who told me I should write about her and not her sisters back when she was in elementary school, continues to soar.

Her latest achievement?

Winning four of five matches Wednesday to claim 2nd place in the 120-pound division at the Fierce Filly Showdown.

Izzy’s wins all came by pins, and she helped Casteel claim the team title from a field of 14 schools.

Her recent run of excellence comes on the heels of a standout performance at the Jerry Benson Tournament in Buckeye, Arizona earlier in the month.

Casteel topped 30 other teams at that event, with Izzy going 5-1, again claiming all of her wins by pins.

The LeVine family, which is headed up by parents Sean and Joline, lived in Coupeville for 14 years.

Mom and pops both worked for the hospital, dad coached highly successful girls’ soccer squads, and Micky and Jae both earned CHS diplomas.
