“It was a pretty frustrating round.”
That being said, Coupeville High School senior golfer Christine Fields actually wasn’t that bad off the tee Monday. She just wasn’t at her prime.
Shooting a 49 (23 in modified Stableford scoring) over nine holes at Mill Creek Country Club, the one-woman Wolf wrecking crew finished in a fourth-place tie in a field of 11 golfers.
Charis Tsai of King’s was the medalist with a score of 30, followed by teammates Hannah Roh (29) and Sarah Wayne (24).
Fields score tied her with South Whidbey’s top golfer on the day, Tarra Moore.
Led by the top three scorers, King’s easily rolled South Whidbey 115-97 in the team scoring race.
With no teammates, Fields, who trains and travels with the Falcons, competes as an individual.
She’ll have more than a week to tweak her game, with her next match coming April 2.
As a three-time state meet participant — she finished fifth in 1A as a junior — she should have little trouble in rebounding.
