Coupeville 3, Orcas Island 0.

Basketballs were flying around the CHS and CMS gyms Saturday, and, if the balls were launched by Wolves, they were going in the bucket. If the visiting Vikings released the jump shot, however, chances were the ball was hitting nothing but rim, or air.

The Wolf varsity girls, varsity boys and JV boys all romped to wins for the first clean sweep of the season. The only thing keeping it from being a 4-for-4 day was the fact Orcas didn’t have a JV girls team to show up and be beaten.

Skipping back and forth between gyms was traveling photographer John Fisken, who snapped the pics above.

Basketball be back.

After 17 long days of wandering through a no-sports wasteland, Coupeville rediscovered its hoops hotshots Friday night, as CHS split a doubleheader with visiting La Conner.

The Wolf boys lost a heart-breaker on the final play of the game, the Wolf girls romped to a wire-to-wire win and John Fisken was there to capture it all.

If you like what you see, hop over to the following links and maybe buy a pic or two. And remember, a percentage of all sales goes to help fund college scholarships for CHS student athletes.

14 days down. Two days to go.

The never-ending gap between basketball games known as Christmas/Winter/No Hoops Break is about to end for Coupeville High School.

La Conner comes to town this Friday for a doubleheader, with the boys tipping at 5 PM, followed by the girls at 6:45. JV games will run in reverse order in the middle school gym.

It will be the first action for either Wolf team since Dec. 17.

That day the CHS girls pounded South Whidbey to improve to 3-2, while the Wolf boys suffered a third-quarter short circuit and watched a close game slip from their grasp, dropping them to 0-5.

The photos above, courtesy John Fisken, should remind you what basketball looks like, if you’ve forgotten in the interim.

best2best4best1best3best6Dear Giant Canadian Media Conglomerate that Swallowed Up all 3 Whidbey Island Newspapers,

My photographers are better than yours.

Of course, I have way more of them than you do, as my Million Mom Mob (and a few dads) fan out and click away like mad.

John Fisken, Shelli Trumbull, Robert Bishop, Kali Barrio, Janine Bundy, Lorene Norris, Wendy McCormick … I can keep this up all the ding dong day, and they will kick your entitled, Loony-financed fannies as I do.

So, everyone, bask in just a taste of what these incredibly dedicated, selfless photogs shot in 2013, and try to ignore the Canuck scalawags crying over there in the corner.
