Wolf Mom opens new beauty biz

From one Wolf Mom to another.

With Salon Blue ending its time in downtown Coupeville, and owner Naomi Welshans heading to new off-Island adventures with husband (and former Wolf baseball coach) Josh, the Mariner’s Court building on Front Street has an opening.

Its new occupant, announced Wednesday, will be The Beauty Cove, to be owned and operated by Sarah Leavell beginning in June.

The mother of Wolf athletes Anya and Kaitlyn has worked at The Seaside Spa & Salon in Coupeville since 2012.

Sarah Leavell, who originally studied cosmetology at Centralia Beauty College, issued the following statement on Facebook:

I am so excited to serve all your hair and beauty needs.

With many thanks and help from Naomie and our amazing community, I took a leap of faith and hope that this opportunity would come, and it has.

I have the keys and can’t wait to get started.

In the next two weeks I will be perfecting my brand and setting up the salon.

I look forward to serving you in my new location!

Salon Blue closing up shop

Four weeks until the final ‘do.

Salon Blue, a popular hair salon which has helped anchor Front Street in Coupeville — and been one of my strongest supporters here at Coupeville Sports — is shutting down at the end of April.

The news was announced Sunday on Facebook:

It is with much gratitude that we announce that Salon Blue will be closing at the end of the month.

We are all incredibly appreciative of your support.

Our years with such amazing clients have been a gift.

Janine and Naomie will both be retiring and moving.

Candice will be relocating to Salon Lux in Oak Harbor.

We are looking forward to new adventures while looking back on our time together with love and thankfulness in our hearts.
