Is there anything finer than a bus trip to Granite Falls on a Wednesday afternoon?
Possibly, at least from the expressions on the faces of basketball players from Coupeville Middle School, who all look a bit like they wished they had stayed home and attended that fifth period math class after all.
The photos may be a bit deceiving, however, as the Wolf 7th grade team probably had a better ride home, coasting on the joy of a 29-21 victory. Ethan Loy had a monster game, pumping in 18 points and hauling down 10 rebounds.
Paul Gallahar collected assists on four of the buckets, while Loy scored the rest off of rebounds and put backs, as the refs allowed players to fly all over the place and swallowed their whistles for much of the game.
The Coupeville 8th grade squad lost despite a game-high 16 points from Gabe Wynn.
The Wolves will get some home-cookin’ the rest of the season, as they host two of the final three games of the boys’ b-ball season. Coupeville welcomes Sultan to town Monday, Dec. 3 at 3 PM, travel to Everett to play Northshore Dec. 10, then close out the season at home Dec. 12 against Langley.
After that, the middle school girls take to the floor for their season, which, hopefully, doesn’t include a trip to Granite Falls.
