Middle school basketball, where sometimes the fouls out-number the points scored.
The Gabe Wynn Show plays its final date of the season tomorrow, on its biggest stage.
Wynn, Grey Rische, Steven Cope and their fellow 8th grade varsity boys’ basketball players will cap the first half of the Coupeville Middle School hoops season by hosting Langley Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 2 PM in the high school gym.
The earlier start time and the promotion across the hall from the middle school gym is to allow all CMS students to attend at least the first game of the afternoon.
Whether they stay for the usual four-hour onslaught of hoops (with 7th grade JV and varsity and 8th grade JV joining the fun) will be the question. If they do, they’ll certainly have more room to stretch out in the bigger gym.
The all-Island match-up brings an end to the boys’ basketball portion of the season. Coupeville girls will suit up for their season beginning in January.
Reasons to attend?
Admission is free, Wynn is a scoring beast soon to be seen at the high school level, the 7th grade teams have a ton of super-quick small guys like Paul Gallahar, Joey Lippo and Nick Etzell (though mad three-point bomber Luke Merriman is out with a broken hand) and did I mention, you get FOUR FREAKIN’ HOURS of basketball?
And it’s a Wednesday. What else are you going to be doing?
