The Big Hurt went to the land of the Huskies Saturday.
Coupeville High School junior lineman Nick Streubel got to visit the University of Washington’s football facilities, watched a scrimmage and met coaches including head man Steve Sarkisian and legendary former Husky quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo.
“It was extremely fun watching the practice,” Streubel said.
While he was there, Streubel was poked and prodded a bit, as they recorded his height, weight, arm length and hand size.
Along for the trip were Streubel’s parents, David and Nanette, and Wolf coach Tony Maggio and sons Anthony and Sawyer.
“Incredible, just a class act, all the coaches,” Tony Maggio said.
“Practice was amazing to watch,” added Nanette Streubel. He met Coach Tuiasosopo, head OL coach, and Coach Sarkisian. They took all his contact info. Now he waits.”
And gets good-naturedly harassed by Cougar fans among the Wolf faithful, hopeful, if the day comes to make a decision, he’ll ignore Seattle and head East.
“Was it the convenience of a two hour trip verse seven and a half hours that landed you in that Godforsaken place?!!!,” wailed Jon Roberts on Facebook. “GO COUG’S … come on Nick, you can do much better.”
