The Coupeville High School thrower may be done for the year after getting five staples in the head to close a self-inflicted wound.
Proving that big men can get air, he dunked while playing basketball in a swimming pool and managed to topple the support base of the hoop, bringing it smashing down onto the top of his skull.
Adding to his legend, he received his staples without getting a painkilling injection, and was soon on a couch, his head wrapped in a turban, demanding people make sandwiches for him.
The Wolves have four meets remaining, including their lone home meet of the season (Thursday, April 18) before beginning the post-season push in May.
Valko has competed in the shot put (he set a personal record in the last meet before Spring Break), discus and 4 x 100 relay.
