They can not lose. They will not lose.
The dynamic duo of freshman Makana Stone and senior Madison Tisa McPhee have been nearly flawless this season.
With three more wins Thursday in her only home meet of the season, Stone is an astounding 21-0 as a high school track runner. Fast enough to overcome a momentary slip on the wet track in one of her races, she continued the greatest kick-off to a CHS track career ever seen.
Hot on her heels is state meet veteran Tisa McPhee, who also collected three wins against South Whidbey and remains unbeaten in hurdles and relays this year. Back from a Hawaiian vacation, the silky-smooth speedster immediately found her groove, even with the change in weather.
Competing on a drizzly day, the duo sparked a team-wide strong showing, as Coupeville captured seven titles on both sides of the scoreboard.
On the girls side of the battle, the Wolves swept all three relay races, with Stone, Tisa McPhee, Marisa Etzell, Jai’Lysa Hoskins and Rachel Wenzel, who set a PR in the javelin, claiming multiple victories.
Josiah Campbell paced the boys, taking home three firsts (100, triple jump, 4 x 100), while Nick Streubel and Sam Landau each won twice.
