Back to the old days.
Back to a time when the football roster at Coupeville High School was annually in the 40’s, and not scraping by in the low 30’s.
That’s where Wolf coach Tony Maggio seems to be taking the Wolves as he kicks off his second season in the red and black.
With 39 players turning out for spring practices, and at least another three or four expected when fall practice arrives in late August, Coupeville should have some depth for once.
The Wolves have their biggest numbers at both ends of the spectrum, with 12 seniors and 11 freshmen so far.
The first test of its new strength will come next Friday, June 14 when Coupeville plays at a jamboree at Oak Harbor. That kicks off at 5:30 PM and features the Wolves, Wildcats and Sedro-Woolley, which is coached by former OHHS head man Dave Ward.
