Eat today and help feed the Coupeville sports stars of tomorrow.
Christopher’s on Whidbey, led by chef/owner Andreas Wurzrainer, is hosting a fundraiser 6 PM Sunday, Nov. 3 to raise money for Gifts from the Heart Food Bank.
The one-night event will feature a four-course dinner prepared by the award-winning culinary icon and a live performance by Johnny Bulldog, which is fronted by Creedence Clearwater Revisited lead singer John Tristao. The local guy turned touring rock ‘n roll stud will perform songs by The Beatles.
Cost is $100 per person and tickets can be bought now either at the restaurant (103 NW Coveland Street) or by phone at 678-5480. All proceeds will go to the food bank.
The food bank, which is open every other Wednesday from 2-5 PM at 203 N. Main Street (Oct. 9 and 23 are the next dates), delivers food to Central Whidbey individuals and families in need. It also provides food to South Whidbey through an outlet in Greenbank.
A new program, called Meals 2 Kids, will provide bags of food to Coupeville Elementary School students. Food bank officials estimate 34% of those helped by their services are 18 or younger.
P.S. — Full disclosure — I work at Christopher’s.
