And now we enter the dead period.

Winter break is here, and, with it, comes a noticeable lack of sports action on Whidbey Island.

Both the Coupeville High School girl hoopsters (3-2) and the boy b-ball wizards (0-5) have a two-week-plus gap in their schedules.

With their last games having come Dec. 17 against South Whidbey — games Dec. 20 at Orcas Island were upended by the Storm of the Century (the agony, the agony of … an inch, maybe two, of snow…), the Wolves aren’t scheduled to return to the hardwood now until Jan. 3.

And that might be the only thing you get here for a few days, as I take advantage of the break to go see my nephews.
