Claire Mietus will take over the world some day.
The Coupeville High School junior, who celebrates a birthday today, hops from one activity to another and excels at all of them.
A fixture on the Wolf sports scene — where she helps anchor the cheer squad through football and basketball seasons — Mietus is lucky she can find time to pick up her pom poms.
She’s also (deep breath) the president of the Leo’s Club, a service organization, plays in the school’s jazz band, is an ASB officer for the Class of 2018 and competes in Science Olympiad.
Claire is a brilliant young woman, outgoing, friendly and deeply caring to those around her, someone who exudes a serene, inquisitive spirit.
It should come as little surprise that she aspires to be a world-changer, with plans to be a cardiovascular surgeon and work with Doctors Without Borders.
I have no doubt she’s well on her way to doing amazing things.
There are some people who you need to merely observe from a distance and you can tell they are destined for greatness, and Miss Mietus has always seemed to have that something extra.
As she celebrates her cake day, we, the fans, want to take a moment to wish her all the best and also to sing her praises for what she’s accomplished already (and everything still to come).
Happy birthday, Claire.
Go into each new moment knowing how much others think of you, and how much they respect your drive and compassion.
You’re a superstar, a bright, shining one, and it’s for all the right reasons.
Keep on amazing us, every day.
