Write everything in pencil.
Very, very light pencil…
Things ebb and flow in the Age of Coronavirus, and high school sports schedules are among the most-fluid of things these days.
Case in point, the Coupeville High School football schedule — which started with four games in this pandemic-altered school year, went to three, and now may be at five.
Emphasis on may.
What we know for sure (for at least the next 12 seconds), is the Wolves, who sit at 1-0 on the season, have bumped their rematch with La Conner from April 30 to this Saturday, April 17.
Then, CHS has plugged in a non-conference tilt with Lummi Nation the following week, and Wolf Athletic Director Willie Smith is working on confirming a rumble with Neah Bay after that.
Coupeville, a 2B school, will face two of the better 1B football programs in those games.
Lummi has been to state 13 times since 2005, claiming a state title in 2010.
Along the way, it has faced Neah Bay four times in the semifinals, with the latter school being a frequent participant in the championship game.
The Red Devils have four state titles, ruling 1B football in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
Coupeville’s football schedule (as of 12:25 PM April 14, 2021):
Sat-April 10 — La Conner (*Won 6-0*)
Sat-April 17 — @ La Conner (6:00)
Sat-April 24 — @ Lummi Nation (1:00)
Fri-April 30 or Sat-May 1 — Neah Bay (Date/Time/Location TBD)
Sat-May 8 — Concrete (6:00)
