With a major Naval air base stationed on it, Whidbey Island is home to many military families.
While Oak Harbor has the largest collection of students with families in the armed forces, Coupeville has its fair share.
This year CHS came big in its support, holding a Veteran’s Day assembly, and producing the video seen below.

Hi David, this is Terry Walker OH class of “77”! I really enjoy your stuff and wish you would cover OH also!!I have a story idea for you when you have the time ( Lol, from the amount of email I get from you it seems like you work 24/7).Here go’s,In 1977 OH’s levy failed and we didn’t have football. Bernie Lange (My little League Football caoch on an undefeated team) led the charge to get the other sports going. That enabled me to wrestle, my folks drove my teammates to matches along with other parents but that’s not the story idea.Jeff Daugherty, Pete Kelley and Dave Williams, wanting badly to play football were able to relocate to Coupeville and play! They have fond memories!!While I have lost contact with Pete and Dave I still talk to Jeff who I’ve been friends with since the 8th grade and remember, his dad was our football coach. So, maybe this could be a story in the future and keep up the good work!!!Sincerely,Terry Walker206-335-8240
