Rain or shine or fog (it’s usually rain and fog…) they are there faithfully, camped out on the metal bleachers, instruments at the ready.

The Coupeville High School band, led by the toe-tappin’ Jamar Jenkins, provide the background beat to Wolf football games, so we’re giving them a moment in the spotlight.

Screw rock ‘n roll! Shoot sports!!

bb1pb2c1webbb5pb3c3pb4Jenn Dohner is a rock star camerawomen. Literally.

From Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam on down to obscure indie bands, Dohner, aka Island Jenn, has shot rock stars in their native environments for years. Her pictures win awards, make her money and caress the eyeballs.

And now, on a whim, she’s shot some good old fashioned high school sports. Or, at least she did during Senior Night for the Coupeville High School girls’ basketball and winter cheer squads.

Band moms of the world, rejoice, for today is your day.

We’re taking a momentary break from the basketball players and the cheerleaders to pay tribute to the 32 dedicated members of the Coupeville High School pep band, who limber up their lips and flex their fingers and then deliver tunes for our enjoyment at home basketball games.

So here you go moms.

And if I missed any names, I blame it on whomever typed up the basketball program Friday night. Or, the fact I’m typing this at 12:52 AM…
