OK, we know this much for sure.

Wednesday, the Coupeville Middle School track team traveled to Langley and met their Island arch-rivals and outsider Sultan in a three-team tango on the oval and in the arena.

If we are to believe what is posted at athletic.net, five Wolf girls competed. And, if we are to believe what we find there, this is the second straight meet in which the CMS boys didn’t show up.

Now you and I both know this not to be true, but it is what it is.

We exist at the whims of the track coaches and their willingness, ability and desire to post results, which have all been sporadic at best this season.

So, for the five girls whose results are available, good job. For the rest of you Wolves, you might want to have a long talk with your coaches.

Semi-official, really-unofficial, 12% correct results:

GIRLS:

100 (7th) — Jillian Pape 5:57.50

100 (8th) — Mattea Miller 5:58.90

800 (7th) — Pape 2:52.30

75 hurdles (7th) — Carlie Rosenkrance 13.2

4 x 200 (8th) — Valen Trujillo, Rosenkrance, Miller, Lauren Grove 2:05.05

As spring sports wind down in Coupeville, we find ourselves with extra photos.

What to do with some of those shots that never made it onto the page so far? Stick ’em away in an (electronic) drawer or publish ’em?

Fine. You make a good argument. We’ll publish ’em.

Six Coupeville High School track stars — two seniors, a sophomore and three freshmen — head to Cheney tomorrow for the 1A state track meet, which runs Friday and Saturday. Is Eastern Washington ready to be invaded by Randy King and his Supreme Six?

In my imagination, King, the quietly intense longtime track guru, is driving the family station wagon while Madison Tisa McPhee, Jai’Lysa Hoskins, Marisa Etzell, Makana Stone, Sylvia Hurlburt and Kirsten Pelroy cause all sorts of havoc in the back seat.

“Are we there yet? ARE WE THERE YET?!?!?!?!?” “She’s on my side!” “She’s TOUCHING me!!!!”

“I will turn this car around, so help me, if I hear one more … freakin’ air conditioner never works in this thing and … NO, I DO NOT WANT TO LISTEN TO THE GREATEST HITS OF CARLY RAE JEPSEN!!!!!!!! Where’s a freakin’ Denny’s when you want one?!?!?”

Yep, that’s how I imagine it.

I could be wrong. But that’s what I’m sticking with.

Hey, I’m not saying this is perfect.

But, six days after its May 15 meet against King’s and host Northshore Christian Academy, the Coupeville Middle School track team has posted at least SOME of its results online at athletic.net.

I kind of think the Wolf boys (as an entire team) and the girl throwers are getting shafted this time around, but I can only report what I can report, so here goes — the unofficial, official, probably half-right results:

100 (7th) — Kyla Briscoe 15.14; Allyson Wenzel 16.02; Abby Parker 16.20; Mckenzie Meyer 16.27; Ashley Smith 16.60; Hayley Dauphinais 17.94; Maggie Crimmins 18.09

100 (8th) — Lauren Grove 14.96; Valen Trujillo 14.97; Robin Cedillo 16.59

200 (7th) — Smith 35.68

400 (7th) — Sage Renninger 1:11.16

400 (8th) — Carlie Rosenkrance 1:09.00

75 hurdles (7th) — Jillian Pape 14.40; Briscoe 16.00; Lauren Bayne 16.88; Wenzel 16.91; Dauphinais 17.76

75 hurdles (8th) — Rosenkrance 13.90

4 x 100 (7th) — Bayne, Parker, Smith, Wenzel 1:05.03

One of the strongest girls’ track teams Coupeville High School has ever produced will hit the big stage next weekend.

After a season of busting and re-busting school records, a season of Makana Stone winning more than 30 times, a season of Madison Tisa McPhee holding her own with the best hurdlers in the state, it all wraps up in Cheney May 24-25.

To get you ready, we offer these snappy photos from team moms.
