Dananecious Maxie

There’s a new sprinter in the game, and by the time you say her name, she’ll have run past you several times.

Dananecious Maxie is bubbly, outgoing and quick. Put that all together with a strong belief in herself, and the Coupeville High School track team has another weapon to employ on an already-loaded girls’ squad.

“I enjoy my track homies and how we are open with each other and like to have fun and encourage each other,” Maxie said. “My coaches are the most fun coaches I ever had and they care about us and our life.

“Shout-out to my inspiration — Mr. (Randy) King and (Tom) Fournier,” she added. “They wanna see us succeed.”

Maxie came up in sports, playing volleyball, softball, soccer and AAU basketball in elementary and middle school. But track, where she competes in the 100, the long jump and on the 4 x 100 relay team, is a new challenge for her.

“I always wanted to do it,” she said. “My strengths are being strong and I’m a fast learner and I’m open to do and try new things.

“I would like to work on my speed and endurance,” Maxie added. “Also believing in my self and knowing I’m a conquerer from within. My goals for this season are to be everything that I am in track and to win first place sometime and have confidence while running.”

Her confidence has been bolstered by a strong family that looks out for her and helps her grow every day.

“The most important thing my family, my mom and dad Dannette and Alonzo Boyles, they challenge me every day with their daily parenting skills,” Maxie said. “I was also taught to believe in my self and never let anybody tell me something that I’m not.

“God is always by my side, always have faith,” she added. “My sisters and brothers, because we always have fun no matter what.”

Away from the athletic fields, Maxie enjoys her history class.

“I like it because we laugh and learn and do everything within the hour that we have and we make Mr. King crazy,” she said.

No matter what she’s doing, Maxie always stay true to the beat, as well.

“I like to sing, dance and write music,” she said. “I live music in general. Music is my homie!!”
