He’s back.
Two broken legs later, Coupeville High School senior Gavin O’Keefe returns to action Friday night, when the Wolves host La Conner and former CHS teammate Taylor Ebersole.
Coming down after taking a shot early in the second game of his junior season, O’Keefe landed on a teammate’s foot. That broken leg kept him out for the remainder of the season.
Then he suffered a second break during an open gym heading into his senior season. He’s missed the first quarter of the season, and the Wolves (0-5) have missed his shot-making skill.
Cleared to return by doctors as Coupeville headed into the winter break, O’Keefe was able to get in enough practices during the down time to be eligible.
“It’s going pretty good,” O’Keefe said. “I’m really sore, ha ha, but that’s to be expected.
“I’ll be in uniform Friday,” he added. “Not sure if I’ll start, it’s the coaches decision.”
