The final run of Mitch Pelroy is going quite well.

The Coupeville High School grad, who’s playing his senior season at Montana Western, put together his second straight week of gridiron excellence.

Pelroy returned four kickoffs for 110 yards, with a long return of 44 yards, and collected six tackles, two assists and a sack Saturday as the Bulldogs destroyed Montana State-Northern 50-6.

The win snaps a two-game skid for Montana Western and lifts its record to 3-2 overall, 2-2 in the Frontier Conference.

Saturday’s performance comes on the heels of a game a week ago, when Pelroy collected 88 yards on three returns and made seven tackles against Southern Oregon.

With six regular-season college football games left in his career, Pelroy is on the cusp of breaking 1,000 career return yards.

In 32 games played from 2013-2016, he’s rolled up 934 yards in kickoff returns and 59 in punt returns, for 993 combined yards.

Pelroy has also collected 53 tackles, 14 assists, two sacks and six broken-up passes while playing in the Bulldog secondary.

Four suited up Saturday, one hopes to play another day.

Former Coupeville High School stars turned college football studs Nick Streubel, Mitch Pelroy, Josh Bayne and Jake Tumblin closed out the regular season strongly Saturday.

Streubel, a redshirt freshman lineman, and his Central Washington University teammates came from behind to beat Dixie State 34-28 to reach .500.

The NCAA D-II Wildcats finished their season with back-to-back wins and exit at 5-5.

Tumblin and Bayne, true freshmen who played in the defensive backfield for Simon Fraser University this year, wrapped an 0-9 campaign.

The Clan fell 38-17 at Azusa Pacific Saturday.

Pelroy, a junior at Montana Western, played for a conference title in a game that came down to the final seconds.

While he and the Bulldogs, ranked #10 in the latest NAIA poll, came up just short, falling 24-17 to #6 Montana Tech, they still have playoff hopes.

Montana Western finished 7-3 and hopes to get an at-large berth when the playoff field is announced Sunday.

Montana Tech, which went from a 1-9 record in 2014 to a 9-1 mark this year, gets an automatic invite as the Frontier League champs.

Pelroy recorded a tackle and took back a kickoff for 19 yards in the loss.

He’s picked up 195 yards on nine returns this season.

Mitch Pelroy is flying high, and so is his team.

With the Coupeville High School grad making an impact on both sides of the ball Saturday, the Montana Western gridiron squad nipped the College of Idaho 27-23.

The victory, coming on the road at Caldwell, Idaho, was the third straight win for the resurgent Bulldogs.

Now 6-2 and ranked #16 in the most recent NAIA coaches poll, Montana Western sits a game back of Southern Oregon and Montana Tech in the Frontier Conference standings.

Southern Oregon, which beat the Bulldogs 37-30 in overtime earlier in the season, is the #1 ranked team in the nation, while Montana Tech is #10.

The two 7-1 squads face off next Saturday, Nov. 7, while Montana Western celebrates Senior Day by welcoming 0-8 Montana State-Northern to Dillon.

The Bulldogs wrap regular season play Nov. 14 with a trip to Montana Tech.

Facing off with Idaho, Montana Western withstood a record-setting day by Yotes quarterback Teejay Gordon, who was 27-of-38 for 371 yards.

The completions and yardage total broke school records that had stood since Oct. 11, 1969.

Pelroy only got one chance to return a kickoff, but he busted it out for 21 yards, a yard shy of his season average.

He’s brought back eight kicks for 176 yards this season, with a long return of 37 yards.

The former Wolf star also recorded a tackle and an assist Saturday while patrolling as a defensive back.

The gang’s all here.

Well, if “here” is Ellensburg, it was true.

Saturday afternoon brought college football to the forefront once again.

Taking advantage of it, a pack of Coupeville fans headed East to see three former Wolves face off on the gridiron.

Former teammates Nick Streubel, Josh Bayne and Jake Tumblin reunited for the first time at the college level, with Streubel’s Central Washington University squad knocking off Simon Fraser 40-7.

Tumblin and Bayne didn’t go down without a fight, however, as the two freshman combined for five tackles and six assists for The Clan.

Bayne had three tackles and three assists (and got half of a tackle for loss), while Tumblin had two tackles and two assists.

The duo will meet back up with the lineman who used to open running paths for them when the two schools play Nov. 6 in Burnaby.

Win streak snapped: Meanwhile, off in in Dillon, Montana, another former Wolf saw his team’s run of success momentarily halted.

Montana Western and Mitch Pelroy fell 10-9 to Carroll College, ruining the Bulldogs Homecoming and snapping a seven-game winning streak that had dated back to last year.

Pelroy recorded a tackle from his defensive back position, but Montana Western (3-1) stalled out time and again on offense, netting just three field goals.

College football raged across the land Saturday, and everywhere you looked, a former Wolf was in there fighting.

Four Coupeville High School alumni suited up for action in games stretching from Montana to Canada, and all had an impact.

Redshirt freshman lineman Nick Streubel and his Central Washington University teammates cruised to their first win of the season, clobbering visiting Western Oregon 40-19.

Meanwhile, freshmen defensive backs Josh Bayne and Jake Tumblin gave it their all, but couldn’t quite save Simon Fraser University from falling 16-10 to visiting Azusa Pacific.

Bayne collected six solo tackles and one assist, while Tumblin had two tackles, two assists and was in on a tackle for a loss as they and the rest of the Clan celebrated Homecoming.

Tumblin, Bayne and Streubel will be reunited next Saturday, Sept. 26, when Simon Fraser travels to Ellensburg to face Central.

Up Montana way, the elder statesman of former Wolf gridiron gods, junior Mitch Pelroy, doesn’t know what it’s like to lose these days.

Pelroy and his Montana Western squad crushed host Montana State-Northern 44-2 to go to 3-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs have won seven straight dating back to last season.

With MSN having no luck scoring, Pelroy only had one kickoff to deal with and he brought it back 22 yards.

He’s averaging 18.5 yards per return this season.

Pelroy also chipped in on defense, recording a tackle and an assist, while teammate Sam Rutherford lit up the scoreboard with four touchdowns.
