"Oh lord, Uncle David's gettin' dramatic again..."

“Oh lord, Uncle David’s gettin’ dramatic again…”

OK, no one do anything awesome or amazing for a bit.

I’m going to see my nephews for a few days, so we’re putting a CLOSED sign on Coupeville Sports.

I won’t be posting anything while I’m gone, and may not even check my email, for that matter. Being the last hold-out against owning a cell phone, that’s slightly easier for me than others.

This is the slowest stretch for sports and sporting activities on Whidbey anyway, so it’s not like anyone will be going into crisis mode.

And now we enter the dead period.

Winter break is here, and, with it, comes a noticeable lack of sports action on Whidbey Island.

Both the Coupeville High School girl hoopsters (3-2) and the boy b-ball wizards (0-5) have a two-week-plus gap in their schedules.

With their last games having come Dec. 17 against South Whidbey — games Dec. 20 at Orcas Island were upended by the Storm of the Century (the agony, the agony of … an inch, maybe two, of snow…), the Wolves aren’t scheduled to return to the hardwood now until Jan. 3.

The photos above, courtesy John Fisken, remind you what basketball looks like for now.

And that might be the only thing you get here for a few days, as I take advantage of the break to go see my nephews.

Deal with it.
