There’s a new Eck to contend with.

As older brothers, and current CHS multi-sport stars Gabe and Ty refereed, Diesel Eck made his wrestling debut over the weekend with the Whidbey Wildcat Wrestling Club at the Wildcat Novice Showdown.

One of five grapplers at the tourney with a Coupeville connection, Diesel finished fourth, while teammates Gracy Woollet, Jacob Barajas and Lita Woolett all claimed second.

Seth Woolett rounded out the Wolves, finishing third in his weight class.

Dylan Estes had a busy weekend.

After six matches — two wins, two byes and two narrow losses — the Coupeville Middle School 6th grader finished fourth in his weight class at the WSWA Little Mountain Rumble.

The lone Wolf to compete for the Whidbey Wildcats Wrestling Club in the tourney, he wrestled in the Novice 70-pound class.

Quarterfinal – Lost by major decision (15-6) to Deacon Holm (Vandit Wrestling Academy)

Consolation Round 2 – Bye

Consolation Round 3 – Won by fall (1:43) over Ryker Marsing (Piranha Wrestling Club)

Consolation Semifinals – Won in sudden victory (SV-1 6-4) over Jorey Johnson (Piranha Wrestling Club)

3rd-Place Match – Lost by fall (2:59) to Deacon Holm (Vandit Wrestling Academy)

Estes is one of eight CMS/CES wrestlers on the Wildcat roster.

The others, who didn’t compete this weekend, are Daniel Barajas, Jacob Barajas, Evlynn Reed, Kholtin Reed, Gracy Woollet, Lita Woollet and Seth Woollet.

Lita Woollet was back on the wrestling mat and taking no prisoners.

The Coupeville Middle School 6th grader won both of her matches Sunday to capture a weight-class title at the Skagit Valley Novice Challenge.

Her championship, coming in the Novice 55-62 group, came via a decision and a fall, with Woollet beating male wrestlers in both matches.

Competing with the Whidbey Wildcat Wrestling Club, she was one of five Coupeville grapplers to see action on the day, with teammates Seth Woollett and Kholtin Reed both capturing second-place finishes in their class.

Dylan Estes was on a roll.

The Coupeville Middle School sixth grader won all four of his wrestling matches Sunday — three by fall — at the Wildcat Thanksgiving Throwdown in Oak Harbor.

His title in the Novice 70 class was the top performance delivered by a Wolf, as three Coupeville grapplers competed for the Whidbey Wildcat Wrestling Club.

Coupeville Elementary second-graders Gracy Woollet and Jacob Barajas each claimed third place.

Gracy Woollet brings the pain.

There’s no high school team, but that doesn’t stop the young guns.

Six Coupeville students, including three from the same family, are competing with the Whidbey Wildcats Wrestling Club this season.

Five of the six saw action this weekend, with sixth grader Lita Woollet and fourth grader Seth Woollet both taking second place in their divisions Saturday at the Anacortes Hawkeyes Novice Tournament.

Lita advanced to the championship round, while Seth rebounded after an early loss.

Gracy Woollet (2nd grade) and Jacob Barajas (2nd grade) also wrestled Sunday, while Dylan Estes (6th grade) took part in Saturday’s Anacortes Hawkeyes Open.

Sixth-grader Daniel Barajas is also on the club roster, but did not compete this weekend.
