Amelia Forbes has the eye of the tiger. (Marquette Cunningham photos)

He’s here for the pins, and the clicks.

Coupeville High School senior Marquette Cunningham is a busy guy this winter.

While attending class at CHS, he and fellow Wolf Deven Ogden train, travel, and compete as wrestlers with South Whidbey since their home school doesn’t have its own mat program.

Also, when he’s not grappling, Cunningham pulls double duty as a photographer, snapping pics of his new teammates, such as the portraits captured above and below.

Our photographer is also ready to wage war on the wrestling mat.

Marquette Cunningham, man of many skills.

Marquette Cunningham is bridging the gap between Central and South Whidbey.

Along with fellow Coupeville High School student Deven Ogden, he’s traveling to Langley to compete as a wrestler this winter, taking advantage of an agreement between CHS and SWHS since the Wolves don’t have their own grappling program.

In between bouts, Cunningham, who shoots for the CHS Yearbook, is also staying busy as an intrepid photographer, snapping images of his new teammates as they toil on the mats.

She’s back on her world tour.

Former Coupeville supernova Izzy LeVine, who calls Arizona home these days, has wrapped up her high school wrestling season, but not left the mat.

Instead, she’s pursuing pins and technical falls against the best of the country at national events such as this weekend’s US High School Women’s Open in Las Vegas.

LeVine, a junior at Casteel High School, split four matches against top-level competition, including getting revenge on a foe who eliminated her from a previous tourney.

The youngest of Sean and Joline’s three daughters, who used to give me rocks at her older sister’s games in Cow Town, hails from a family which has three inductees in the Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Fame.

Siblings Micky and Jae, as well as pops, are all enshrined in our digital shrine.

She’s bringing home some more hardware.

Former Coupeville supernova Izzy LeVine, now a junior at Casteel High School in Arizona, claimed fourth place at the state championships over the weekend.

Competing in the 132-pound weight class, the grappler won three of five matches, advancing to the semifinals, and placed for the third consecutive season.

LeVine was also fourth as a sophomore and earned a seventh-place finish as a freshman.

She was a state champ while in junior high.

Izzy is the youngest of Sean and Joline’s three superstar daughters, with older siblings Micky and Jae both having been inducted into the Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Fame for their accomplishments during their days as student athletes at CHS.

Izzy LeVine and manager/hype man Sean LeVine hang out at a previous tourney.

She’s three-for-three.

Former Coupeville supernova Izzy LeVine, now a junior at Casteel High School in Arizona, has qualified for the state wrestling tournament for the third consecutive year.

The younger sister of Coupeville Sports Hall o’ Famers Micky and Jae overcame illness and injuries to advance out of sectionals and will join five of her teammates in making the trek to the big dance (on the big mat).

Casteel, which had nine grapplers in action, earned second place out of 20 teams at the Division 1, Section III meet.

Izzy finished fourth in the 132-pound class at sectionals, battling her way back into contention after a loss in the semifinals.

Coming into the tourney, she had won titles at her previous three events.

The Arizona state wrestling tourney goes down Feb. 21-22.
