“Unleash The Lathom!!” He might not be The Kraken, but Lathom Kelley (right) hits about as hard as the legendary beast from “Clash of the Titans.”

Risner hears the news fellow lineman Oscar Liquidano is returning from Vegas for his senior year and can’t hold in his smile.
As we head into a new high school sports year, there’s a few things to keep in mind about photos.
Stop putting pics that say PROOF or have a copyright symbol (you know, that big C) on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and whatever new interweb thing is trying to steal your brain today.
It looks tacky and you’re stealing.
That being said, feel free to snag photos off of Coupeville Sports, like the football practice shots that are lurking above.
You will notice none of them say PROOF across them, and the photographers who supply me with 90% of my photos — Shelli Trumbull and John Fisken — are fine with that.
Fisken is running a business, so if you want the ones that say PROOF, buy them. Then the word PROOF magically evaporates, giving you a glossy, unmarred photo.
I provide links to his work whenever possible or you can jump directly to http://www.olympicleague.com/index.php?district=3&league=21 and check up on him at any time.
Why would you pay for his pics? Because you might get your money back.
For the second straight year, he’ll be offering scholarships to CHS student/athletes (Breeanna Messner and Brandon Kelley won the inaugural awards), funded by money from photo sales.
To put yourself in the running, pick up an application from Mrs. Bagby in the CHS counseling office.
To be eligible, you need to have participated in at least two school sports per year for all four years of high school (winter cheer counts).
Exceptions may be granted for athletes who moved into the district mid-way through their schooling.
You need a minimum 3.0 GPA and will need to submit a 500-word essay “How Sports Made Me A Better Person”.
If you want Mrs. Trumbull’s photos, you can snag the ones I use or jump over to https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coupeville-Booster-Club/83614917107 to see a ton more.
She also has separate pages set up for sports like boys’ basketball and baseball.
